Embracing NAIDOC Week

Honouring Indigenous Culture and the
Wisdom of Elders

We are delighted to share our collaboration with Qube for this year's NAIDOC Week, centred around the meaningful theme "For Our Elders." Together, we have curated a collection of three products that pay homage to Indigenous culture and reverently acknowledge the wisdom and guidance of the esteemed elders within our indigenous communities.

Embracing Indigenous Culture: The Collection

Within this special collection, we have included an all-over printed bucket hat, an all-over printed cotton scarf, and an enamel pin accompanied by a heartfelt card message. Each item holds deep significance and reflects the essence of Yindyamarra, an exquisite artwork meticulously crafted by Sydney-based Indigenous artist Darren Charlwood exclusively for Qube’s Reconciliation Action Plan in 2023.

The Inspiration: Unveiling the Essence of Yindyamarra

Darren, a proud Wiradjuri man hailing from the yabaay wagaan (wedge-tail eagle and crow) mob in Wellington, passionately shares the inspiration behind Yindyamarra. This extraordinary Wiradjuri word encompasses the values of respect, gentleness, kindness, and balance, vividly illustrating the interconnectedness between people, the sea, and the land.

According to Darren, "I aimed to create a work that exemplifies the harmonious relationship among individuals, the vastness of the sea, and the beauty of our land." The artwork beautifully depicts the intricate connections from coastal ports to inland rivers, roads, rail networks, and Indigenous trade routes, symbolising the enduring relationships that unite communities across Australia.

A Profound Reflection: Celebrating Cultural Connections

Qube's nationwide operations played a pivotal role in shaping Darren's artwork, as he sought to showcase the intertwined nature of these operations with the land and sea. By incorporating these elements, he emphasises the importance of understanding and safeguarding the everlasting cultural connections deeply ingrained within our country.

Celebrating Indigenous Heritage: A Proud Collaboration

We are honoured to feature Darren Charlwood's artwork in our collaboration with Qube, as it perfectly encapsulates the spirit of NAIDOC Week's "For Our Elders" theme and celebrates the rich Indigenous heritage that defines and shapes our nation. Through this collaboration, we seek to honour and uplift the wisdom of Indigenous elders, fostering a deeper appreciation for their invaluable contributions to our communities. These products serve as a powerful reminder of the rich Indigenous heritage that shapes our nation.
